The Lady Bluejackets defeated Pee Dee Academy in a Monday night showdown. Starting pitcher Brooke Elliott was injured during the game and had to be taken out in the third inning. Layna Johnson came to the mound to finish the game striking out six and giving up five hits.
Pee Dee Academy jumped ahead 3 to 0 in the third inning after a walk, error, and a base hit. The Bluejackets slowly came back, eventually taking the lead after Blair Gasque hit a double down the left field line with bases loaded. Gasque had 3 RBI’s on the hit.
Other top hitters included Johnson who was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Felicia Tracy who was 2 for 2 with an RBI, Morgan Richardson who was 2 for 3 with an RBI, and Katy Gunter who was 1 for 2 with an RBI.
The Bluejackets will play again Wednesday night in Aynor against the Loris Lions.
