Marion High School
Aynor varsity boys soccer gave up a 2-1 lead over Marion in the second half Friday night in Aynor to lose 2-3. Aynor jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a beautiful cross field pass from Christian Riddle to Kole Bryson early in the game. The bluejackets looked poised to strike several more times in the first half, but failed to find the back of the net. Marion answered and the half ended in a 1-1 tie. Christian Riddle again made a tremendous individual effort to score in the second half to lead 2-1 which held for most of the half until Marion was awarded a penalty kick to even things 2-2. With less than 6 minutes remaining, Marion was again awarded a penalty kick from a foul on the edge of the box. The ensuing kick missed wide right, but a re-kick was allowed due to yelling in the box on the first attempt. The second try found the back of the net and the jackets were unable to convert several attempts as time expired. James Feaser recorded 10 stops at Keeper on the night.
The boys play again at Waccamaw next Tuesday following the girls match.
