Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity’s effort to come back from down five runs in the fifth inning came up just short, as they fell 5-3 to Dillon on Wednesday. Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity scored three runs in the failed comeback on a fielder’s choice by Riley Cooper, a walk by Spencer Sarvis, and a groundout by Andrew Brown.
Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity couldn’t keep up with Dillon early in the game. Dillon scored on a sacrifice fly by Davis Cook in the first inning and a single by Shamareon Mckinnon in the second inning.
Dillon got on the board in the first inning. Cook’s sac fly scored one run for Dillon.
Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity scored three runs in the sixth inning. Cooper, Sarvis, and Brown all drove in runs in the frame.
Billy “Rae Rae” McGirt was the winning pitcher for Dillon. He allowed four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out 11. Jon-Mitchell Carter threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Carter recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Dillon.
Tanner Allen took the loss for Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity. He surrendered three runs on one hit over three innings, striking out two.
Keegan Krasula went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Aynor Blue Jackets Varsity in hits.
